Intro

This guide is designed for persons who need to update their Samsung phone manually in the event they are not receiving over the air (OTA) updates. 

DISCLAIMER: This process can potentially brick your device. You can follow this guide at your own risk. I have personally had an update fail mid update and rerun the update and it worked fine. 

Instructions

  1. Go to Settings ➡️ then “About phone” ➡️ “Software information”.
  2. Google the baseband version
  3. Check the sammobile.com result and take note of the model number inclusive of the suffix letter, product code and country.
  4. Go to the firmware tab on sammobile.com and select the correct model number and country as previously noted. (You made need to enter the model number first then search then try again, the search can give trouble at times).
  5. Select the latest date
  6. Download odin, the instructions and the firmware files.
  7. Extract Odin and the firmware files in the same folder
  8. Open Odin, and select the matching files for CSC use HOME_CSC if you want to retain your phone data or CSC if you want to wipe the phone clean.
  9. Put your phone into download mode (Start phone while holding down the Bixby button and volume down) and then volume up in order to continue once you reach to the download screen.
  10. Connect the phone to computer and you should see COM:X in Odin
  11. Click Start and it should transfer. You are done.
